In
Collaborator, despite Kessler's
advice to the contrary, his frightened mistress Madeleine Duclos decides to
leave her flat and makes for the Candide. After she has left, a flat
(possibly Madeleine's) is looted by a crowd of civilians and the items they find
there are burnt in the street.
