Galeries Royales St Hubert

The St. Hubert Gallery, which first opened 1847, situated close to the Grand Place is one of Europe's largest covered shopping arcades.  The gallery consists of three sections - the Galerie du Roi (the King's Gallery), Galerie de la Reine (the Queen's Gallery) and the smaller Galerie du Prince (the Prince's Gallery). The two larger galleries are divided by Rue Des Bouchers (a picturesque little street full of restaurants catering to the tourist trade).

It is in this arcade that Lifeline member Claude is killed by the Germans after Max's tip-off in Russian Roulette. The scene starts by a shop in the Galerie de la Reine. The Germans lying in wait for Claude are positioned in the alleyway between the two Galleries (the Rue des Bouchers is glimpsed briefly). Claude is first seen in the Galerie du Roi by the organ grinder, before passing the waiting Germans and making his way into the Galerie de la Reine, where he is shot down as he tries to escape.

After Brussels is liberated, the arcade is also the setting for Monique and Durnford's courting in Bridgehead. The organ grinder and his monkey are once again present. The whole scene takes place in the Galerie de la Reine.
